China Announces New Supportive Measures for Visa and Work Permit Applications
The Immigration and entry / exit procedures, as well as a number of new visa arrangements, trialled in the country’s Pilot Free Trade Zones have now been implemented on a national basis.
This has seen a number of measures designed to encourage high-level overseas personnel – including foreign nationals of Chinese descent – to come to China as innovators or entrepreneurs, as well as to invest, study or work, adopted across the mainland. As a result, it is anticipated that a higher number of overseas personnel will be offered permanent residency, while more long-term visas and residence permits will also be issued. Alongside this, more overseas specialists will be invited to work in China, while all such individuals will be accorded a higher level of support than had been previously available.
Confirmation that the trial measures have been more widely implemented came from the Ministry of Public Security, with its statement emphasising the economic and social benefits likely to accrue from the move.
