China Boosts Consumption Via Optmised Distribution Channels

In order to promote the development of national distribution networks, optimise the consumer environment and help sustain the growth of the economy overall, the General Office of the State Council recently advanced the following policy proposals:

  • Prioritising the development of new distribution channels, incorporating innovative information technology (including Big Data, the cloud and mobile internet) where appropriate
  • Upgrading conventional distribution businesses and accelerating the adoption of new concepts, innovative technology and state-of-the-art design
  • Encouraging the wider penetration of chain convenience stores
  • Establishing domestic sales channels for products previously solely exported
  • Ensuring that consumer demand for high-quality imported goods is met
  • Optimising automobile distribution as a means of maximising sales

Full details of these proposals can be found in Opinions on Accelerating the Development of Distribution to Boost Commercial Consumption (Guo Ban Fa No. 42 [2019]).
