China Customs Approves Gansu Facility as Imported Timber Supervision Area

The General Administration of Customs has approved the Wuwei Customs Supervision Area in Gansu Province for imported timber following an on-site assessment.

In total, the facility has been approved to handle eight varieties of bark-free boards, including white birch, larch, Scots pine, Chinese pine, fir and spruce, all of which must be transported in sealed containers. The operator of the area has also been mandated to use specialist heat treatment procedures in order to ensure all timber imported from Russia is effectively quarantined.

Full details can be found in the Announcement of Designated Customs Supervision Areas for Imported Timber (No. 165 [2019]), as recently issued by the General Administration of Customs in accordance with the provisions of the Law on the Quarantine of Animals and Plants Entering and Leaving China and the relevant implementation regulations.

The General Administration of Customs will announce on an ad hoc basis any updates to the approved  List of Designated Customs Supervision Areas for Imported Timber via its website.
