China Introduces Nationwide Random Drug Quality Inspections

Random spot checks on drug quality are to be introduced across China, with a view to ensuring high standards are adhered to with regard to the production, distribution and administration of all such products.

All such checks will be undertaken by the National Medical Products Administration with all businesses / personnel engaged in the specified activities obliged to cooperate fully with any such investigations / evaluations.

Full details of the new procedures can be found in the Administrative Measures for Drug Quality Spot Checks (Guo Yao Jian Yao Guan No. 34 [2019]), as recently issued by the National Medical Products Administration. This supersedes all previous pertaining legislation.
