China Looks to Curb Electrical Product Environmental Damage
New regulations aimed at curbing the environmental damage caused by discarded electrical and electronic products have been jointly-issued by The State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). This new directive –Implementation Arrangements for the Conformity Assessment System for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical Appliances and Electronic Products – obliges suppliers of any electrical appliances and electronic products manufactured / imported after 1 November this year (and listed in The Standard Achieving Management Catalogue) to complete a conformity assessment on either a voluntary certification or self-declaration basis.
