China Looks to Improve Port Business Environment and Accelerate Customs Reform

The General Administration of Customs (GAC), acting on behalf of the State Council, has announced a number of measures designed to both optimise the business environment of mainland ports and to accelerate the implementation of planned improvements to the customs service.

In all, 10 specific measures are to be adopted, including simplifying customs documents, improving the efficiency of customs clearance procedures, promoting the “single window system”, introducing paperless customs clearance procedures at ports and reducing port charges.

Full details of these new arrangements can be found in the Circular on Speeding Up the Raising of Customs Facilitation Levels.
