China Matches US Move to Impose 25% Import Tariffs

In response to the 25% import tariff imposed by the US on some US$50 billion worth of mainland-originated products, China has retaliated by imposing a matching tariff on an equivalent level of its US imports. Among the China-bound US exports to be subject to this tariff are a wide range of agricultural products (including soybeans), as well as automobiles, chemicals and aircraft. Further details of the measures, as well as the proposed implementation date, are to be released in due course.
