China Rationalises Green Product Attribution

The State Administration for Market Regulation has recently issued a set of administrative measures specifying the scope of application and certification of green product labels. Among the key measures are the following:

  • Certification institutions will certify products listed in the unified China Green Product Catalogue in accordance with the standards stipulated on the green product assessment standards list.
  • Certification institutions will certify products with green attributes concerned with resources, energy, environment and quality (such as eco-friendliness, energy conservation, water conservation, recycling, low-carbon, regeneration, organic, and restricted use of hazardous substances) in accordance with the certification rules and assessment standards stipulated in the relevant systems.

These new measures came into force on 1 June 2019.
