China Releases Updated Commodity Classifications

The General Administration of Customs (GAC) has recently issued classification decisions on certain commodities as well as the rescindment of certain others.

Among the newly-confirmed classifications are those relating to frozen cooked silkworm chrysalises/small rice grasshoppers (Code: 0410.0090), Victoza (liraglutide) injections (Code: 3004.3900), chopstick wrappers/small bags/toothpick wrappers made of textile materials (Code: 4202.9200) and semiconductor chip testing devices (Code: 9031.8090).

Among the classifications cancelled due to legal/regulatory changes are those relating to contraceptive intrauterine devices (IUDs) containing copper, ENT examination units and synthetic rubber.

All these amendments came into force as of 1 January this year.
