China Zero Rates Import Tax on Commonly-Used Medicines
As of 1 May this year, import duties are no longer payable on a wide range of commonly-used medicines. Among the treatments that are now officially zero-rated are cancer drugs, cancer alkaloid-based drugs and traditional Chinese medicines.
Announcing the decision, the Customs Tariff Commission, which reports directly to the State Council, said the move was intended to minimise the costs incurred by patients and to extend the range of treatment options available.
