Chinese Government Reaffirms Commitment to Widespread Industrial Reform
The 9 September Executive Meeting of the State Council confirmed the central government’s commitment to its widespread reform programme. In particular, the session – chaired by Xi Jinping, the Chinese President – reiterated the importance of integrating the advanced manufacturing and modern service industries as a means of enhancing the core competitiveness of the manufacturing industry, cultivating a modern industrial system and sustaining high-quality development.
In line with this, it was also agreed to prioritise keeping up-to-date with technological innovation, implementing industrial transformation, nurturing the growth of the domestic consumer market, improving business connectivity, extending value chains, ensuring new technology is widely accessible and exploring the possibilities offered by new business models.
