Clarification Issued Over Jurisdiction for Price-Related Online Complaints

Moves have been made to clarify the jurisdiction in which price-related complaints regarding online transactions are to be handled. This has seen the National Development and Reform Commission rule that all such complaints will be handled by the pricing department deemed to be responsible for the geographical area in which the online business operator in question maintains its physical premises.

The ruling formed part of the recently-issued Provisions on the Jurisdiction over Reporting of Price-Related Violations in Online Transactions, which came into effect on 3 February this year and will remain in force for the next five years.
