Food Safety Incidents in Guangdong Must Be Reported Within Two Hours

In the event of a food safety incident, the entity, food producer or business operator, clinical medical institution, food safety technical institution or social organisation concerned must make a report to their supervisory departments within two hours, according to the newly revised Contingency Plan for Food Safety Incidents in Guangdong. Subsequently, the food and drug administration will organise an incident assessment in accordance with the law, will initially determine whether it is a food safety incident and its relevant grade, and inform the food safety office at the same level and pass on the relevant information. The food safety office will then make suggestions to the people’s government at the same level regarding the initiation of contingency measures.
