Food, Tobacco and Footwear Import/Export Procedures Amended
Several amendments have been made to the list of imported/exported items that are subject to statutory inspection or quarantine procedures. The principal categories affected by the changes are as follows:
- Custom supervision condition “A” has been added to all vehicles covered by customs commodity code 8716100000 (caravan style trailers or semi-trailers). As a result, as of 1 March this year, all such imports will be subject to inspection and quarantine procedures.
- Customs supervision condition “A” has been added to four categories of leather-made children’s ankle boots (6403511190, 6403519190, 6403911190 and 6403919190) and one toothbrush category (9603210000). As a result, as of 1 March this year, all such imports will be subject to inspection and quarantine procedures.
- In the case of four categories of tobacco products – 2402100000 (cigars/cigarillos), 2402200000 (cigarettes), 2402900001 (cigarettes using a tobacco substitute) and 2402900009 (cigars using a tobacco substitute) – customs supervision condition “B” has been withdrawn. As a result, as of 1 February this year, all such exports will no longer be subject to inspection or quarantine procedures.
- In case of 90 food additive categories, customs supervision condition “B” has been withdrawn, while customs supervision condition “A” remains in force. As a result, as of 1 February this year, only imported items in these categories will be subject to inspection and quarantine procedures, with exported items facing no such requirement.
These amendments were authorised by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) and detailed in The Announcement on the Adjustment of the Catalogue of Import and Export Commodities Subject to Inspection and Quarantine by Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Authorities.
