Fresh Tea and Juice Vendors Face Heightened Oversight

Vendors of freshly-made tea and/or vegetable and fruit drinks now face greater responsibility with regard to product safety, while also being liable for more regular inspections and audits, under new regulations issued by the State Administration for Market Regulation.

As outlined in the 7 June Circular on Strengthening the Supervision and Management of the Production and Sale of Freshly-Made Milk Tea and Fruit and Vegetable Juice, it is now incumbent upon all such vendors/business operators to ensure full compliance with all relevant food safety standards with regard to the procurement of appropriate ingredients and utensils. Said operators also need to ensure the veracity of any claims made in their publicity material. In order to ensure strict observation of these requirements, supervision, inspection and product sampling is to be stepped up, with all stock records and storage conditions likely to be subjected to regular checks.
