Greater Bay Area Health Bodies Sign Six-Point Formal Co-operation Agreement

The 25 February signing of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Health Co-operation Consensus saw 62 health co-operation projects across the wider region given the formal go ahead.

Overall, the Co-operation Consensus identifies six priority areas for greater future collaboration:

i) Closer co-operation with regard to the use of premium medical resources

ii) Strengthening co-operation when tackling public health emergencies

iii) Greater co-operation in the development and exploitation of traditional Chinese medicine

iv) Expanding co-operation in the areas of scientific research and related services

v) Strengthening personnel training co-operation

vi) Nurturing increasingly patient-centric medical services

Essentially, the Consensus is seen as providing the framework for greater integration between its three signatories – The Guangdong Health Commission, The Food and Health Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and The Health Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region.
