Guangdong Announces Manufacturing Upgrade in Line with Made in China 2025
Guangdong province has announced plans to upgrade the manufacturing sector on the west bank of the Pearl River. By 2025, it is anticipated that this sector will have world class facilities and resources. The strategy for delivering this has been outlined in the Implementation Plan for Establishing Pilot Demonstration City Clusters for Made in China 2025 in Six Cities and One District on the West Bank of the Pearl River.
Under the terms of the plan, the core area of the proposed Advanced Equipment Manufacturing Industry Belt will be built on the west bank of the Pearl River. This area will encompass the six cities of Zhuhai, Foshan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Yangjiang and Zhaoqing, as well as the Shunde district. This will see them all designated as pilot demonstration city clusters in line with the precepts of Made in China 2025.
Overall, priority will be given to the development of advanced equipment manufacturing. More specifically, particular efforts will be made to develop smart manufacturing equipment in the Foshan National High-Tech Development Zone, the Zhuhai National High-Tech Development Zone, and the Zhongshan Intelligent Numerical Control Processing Equipment Base. Emphasis will also be placed on automobile and new energy vehicle manufacturing, marine engineering equipment and vessels, railed transport equipment, new strategic industries and the transformation and upgrade of any traditionally dominant industries. This declaration has been approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Guangdong is also committed to implementing fiscal and tax policies that are favourable to the transformation and upgrade of the manufacturing industry, while also accelerating initiatives designed to cut costs and reduce the financial burdens of advanced manufacturing enterprises.
