Guangdong Identifies Six Greater Bay Area Development Priorities

The Guangdong Provincial Government has confirmed its commitment to the future development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area prior to the publication of two of its key strategy documents – The Implementation Opinions and The Three-Year Action Plan, both of which relate to the previously-circulated Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. While the Implementation Opinions primarily focus on long-term development and pre-2035 goals, the Three-Year Action Plan details medium-term arrangements and quantified interim objectives.

Previewing the two documents at a press conference on 2 March, local government officials highlighted the importance of widespread co-operation in six priority sectors – policy coordination (with an emphasis on people-to-people bonds), facilities connectivity, financial integration, greater collaboration with regards to innovation and technology, and the establishment of a global innovation and technology hub.
