Guangdong Unveils Three-Year Industrial Transformation Action Plan

Guangdong’s local government has issued a three-year action plan designed to steer the technological upgrade of 25,000 of the province’s industrial enterprises. With a particular focus on digital innovation, networking, artificial intelligence and environmentally-friendly manufacturing procedures, some RMB2 trillion (US$317 billion) in investment has been earmarked to bankroll the process. Following the scheduled completion of the programme in 2020, it is hoped that the annual per employee productivity level within the sector will have increased by RMB10,000 in value terms.

Billed as the Three-Year Action Plan for the Technological Transformation of Industrial Enterprises in Guangdong (2018-2020), this economic blueprint was published by the Guangdong Provincial Economic and Information Commission in line with the previously-circulated Notice of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province on the Issuance of Several Policies and Measures for Reducing the Cost of Manufacturing Enterprises and Supporting the Development of the Real Economy in Guangdong (Yue Fu No. 90 [2017]).
