Hong Kong and Macau Workers Granted Semi-Local Status in Qianhai

Any Hong Kong or Macau resident looking to work in the Qianhai special economic zone will no longer need to secure an Employment Permit. They will also be granted the same status as local workers when it comes to contributing to/withdrawing from the Housing Provident Fund and be eligible for a loan from the fund for the purpose of securing their accommodation.

These entitlements were announced in new guidelines – Several Policies on Talents Management Reform in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Talents Co-operation Demonstration Area – jointly issued by the Department of Organisation of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security and 10 other government departments.
