Pudong Cosmetics Import Process Streamlined by Shift to Record-Filing System

Shanghai’s Pudong New Area has now adopted a record filing system with regard to the import of non-special-purpose cosmetics. The move replaces the previous approval-based process and has been designed to streamline the overall import procedure.

The measure is in line with a joint January 2017 statement from the China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ). This specified that, from 1 March 2017 to 21 December 2018, record-filing would suffice for the import of non-special-purpose cosmetics via the port of the Pudong New Area by a domestic dealer also based in the Pudong New Area.
