Sewage Charges Revised Across Central Guangzhou

With effect from 1 July 2017, new sewage rates are to apply in seven of Guangzhou’s central urban areas  –  Tianhe, Yuexiu, Haizhu, Baiyun, Liwan, Huangpu and Panyu district’s University City.

The new rates are as follows:

1. Resident domestic sewage

First tier (0-26 cubic metres) - RMB0.95/ton

Second tier (27-34 cubic metres) - RMB1.43/ton

Third tier (over 34 cubic metres) - RMB2.85/ton

2. Non-resident domestic sewage

3. Wastewater for specialist industries

The sewage rates for Panyu (except University City), Huadu, Nansha, Conghua and Zengcheng districts are to be adjusted by the relevant local assessment department in conjunction with the water supplies department. These rates will be set no lower than the minimum state-prescribed level and will be no less than RMB0.95/ton for resident domestic sewage and no less than RMB1.4/ton for non-resident domestic sewage. In principle, all of the key designated towns will adjust the chargeable rates to no less than RMB0.85/ton for resident domestic sewage and no less than RMB1.2/ton for non-resident domestic sewage. The new rates will take effect following approval by the relevant local government bodies.
