Shanghai Looks to Integrate Home-Based Community Senior Care Services

Home-based community senior care in Shanghai is to be coordinated with community senior care facilities and institutions in order to provide a truly integrated service. This will extend across the three forms of community care facilities currently in operation ˗ community daycare centres, community integrated service centres and community-support service centres. Within these sectors, any centre operated by social organisations, enterprises or individuals is free to set its own tariffs in line with prevailing market conditions.

These changes were outlined by the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau in its recently adopted Measures for the Administration of Community Senior Care Service. The measures came into force on 1 May 2017 and will remain in force until 30 April 2020.
