Statutory Import Inspection Introduced for Toothbrushes, Children’s Shoes and Wooden Products

Certain imported items are now subject to statutory entry inspection and quarantine procedures. According to an announcement from the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ), the move has been made to ensure compliance with all of the relevant mandatory national standards currently in force.

The specific product categories that have been subject to import inspection and quarantine measures since 1 March 2018 are:

  • Toothbrushes (HS code 9603210000)
  • Children’s shoes (HS codes 6403511190, 6403519190, 6403911190 and 6403919190

In addition, since 1 February 2018 the following imported items have been subject to import supervision measures:

  • Fibreboard (HS codes 4411131900, 4411141900 and 4411929000)
  • Reinforced wooden products (HS code 4413000000)
  • Wooden furniture (HS codes 9403300090, 9403400090, 9403509100, 9403509990, and 9403609100)
