Three New Food Safety Standards to Take Effect in February 2020

China recently announced that three new national food safety standards will come into effect as of 28 February 2020:

  • GB 2763-2019 National Food Safety Standard Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticides in Foods
  • GB 23200.116-2019 National Food Safety Standard – Determination of 90 Organophosphorus Pesticides and Metabolites Residues in Foods of Plant Origin – Gas Chromatography Method
  • GB 23200.117-2019 National Food Safety Standard – Determination of Oxine-Copper Residue in Foods of Plant Origin – High-Performance Liquid Chromatography Method

Full details can be found in the Announcement on Issuing the Standards for Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticides in Food, as jointly issued by the National Health Commission, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the State Administration for Market Regulation.

These standards can be viewed / downloaded via the website of the Center for Agri-food Quality and Safety.
