Additional Time for Input on Possible Amended Energy Requirements for Clothes Washers and Dryers

The U.S. Department of Energy is giving interested parties until 17 October for interested parties to submit input on whether amended standards for residential clothes washers would result in a significant amount of additional energy savings and are technologically feasible and economically justified. For example, parties may comment on whether there have been sufficient technological or market changes since the most recent update that may justify a new rulemaking to consider more stringent standards.

Parties may also submit by 6 November comments on a proposal to amend the current energy test procedures for clothes dryers to provide additional direction in response to questions from manufacturers and test laboratories. The DOE is also proposing amendments to specify rounding requirements for all reported values, apply consistent use of nomenclature and correct typographical errors, and remove obsolete sections of the test procedures.
