Argentina Adopts New Procedures for Courier and Mail Imports

The Argentinean government has unveiled new procedures to process goods imported into the country via mail or through an express delivery service provider. Among other things, non-commercial mail shipments with a value no higher than US$200 and a weight no greater than two kilogrammes may now be delivered door-to-door, while books, printed material and documents may be delivered door-to-door without the need to complete a simplified international postal shipment declaration. Non-commercial courier shipments with a value no higher than US$1,000 and a weight no greater than 50 kilogrammes will be exempt from import licencing and certain other import requirements, subject to certain conditions (including an annual limit of five shipments per person). The new procedures will  enter into force on 26 August.
