Argentina Approves New Standards for Solar Systems

Argentina has approved new quality and safety standards for solar collectors and compact solar systems. Solar collectors must comply with the requirements of standard IRAM 210022-1 while compact solar systems must adhere to the requirements specified in standard IRAM 210015-1, with the exception of certain provisions related to annual thermal performance estimates. Subject merchandise must also be labelled with any information required by those standards as well as the country of origin and a safety seal issued in accordance with the relevant conformity certification system. Additionally, the products must be accompanied by an installation, use and maintenance manual and comply with certain conformity assessment requirements.

Effective from 2 March 2019, importers and domestic producers of subject merchandise must submit a sworn declaration, accompanied by the relevant test results performed by a domestic or foreign laboratory, attesting compliance with certain requirements related to impact resistance, internal pressure, volume, thermal loss and heat transfer fluid. Effective from 4 September 2019, importers and domestic producers must submit proof that the conformity assessment process has been initiated.

Subject merchandise must undergo conformity assessment in accordance with (i) certification System 4, which is based on type testing and checking of samples taken from the market and/or the production site; (ii) certification System 5, which is based on an evaluation of the manufacturer’s quality management system and the testing of samples taken from the production line; or (iii) certification System 7, which requires every imported lot to be tested to ensure regulatory compliance.
