Argentina Exempts Capital Goods, Temporary Imports from Recent Statistical Tax Increase

Argentina is exempting the following imports from the recent increase in the statistical tax on imports: (i) capital goods imported within the framework of Decrees 1174/2016 and 629/2017 as well as Resolutions 909/1994 and 256/2000, as amended; and (ii) products imported under any temporary importation regime.

All other products will face a statistical tax of 2.5 percent through the end of this year, subject to certain maximum caps. Specifically, for imports valued under US$10,000, the maximum statistical tax payable is now US$150; for imports of a value ranging from US$10,000 to US$100,000, the maximum is US$2,500; for imports of a value ranging from US$100,000 to US$1 million, the maximum is US$25,000; and for imports above US$1 million the maximum is US$125,000.
