Argentina Further Amends Certification Requirements for Low-Voltage Electrical Equipment

Argentina has further amended a July 2016 regulation requiring low-voltage electrical equipment that is sold in the country to be certified for compliance with certain essential safety requirements. Among other things, Argentinean authorities have clarified a recently amended provision giving importers additional flexibility to ensure that non-compliant products imported into the country fully adhere to the requirements for low-voltage electrical equipment. Specifically, importers may adapt non-compliant products in accordance with any of the certification systems presently available to ensure compliance with the connector geometry and/or plug-cable connector requirements. Importers may also make any necessary changes to the product to ensure compliance with all applicable labelling requirements.

Moreover, Argentina has incorporated products entering the country as samples, temporary importations, or accompanied or unaccompanied baggage to the list of products excluded from the certification requirements for low-voltage electrical equipment.
