Argentina Narrows Scope of Import Licencing Requirements, Adopts New Criterion Value for Plastic Tableware and Kitchenware

The Argentinean government has again amended the list of items subject to non-automatic import licencing by removing goods classified under NCM 8471.30.12, 8471.30.19, 8471.30.90, 8471.41.10, 8471.49.00, 8504.40.90, 8528.41.10, 8528.41.20, 8528.51.10, 8528.51.20 and 8544.42.00. This action was effective 4 March.

Separately, the Argentinean government has amended the reference/criterion value for plastic tableware, kitchenware, other household articles, and hygienic or toilet articles classified under NCM 3924.10.00 and 3924.90.00 from various sources, including Hong Kong and mainland China. If such goods have declared values lower than the new criterion value of US$6.00 per kilogramme, which is purportedly aimed at preventing the under-invoicing of imports, the importer must pay a guarantee equivalent to the difference in duties on the declared value and the criterion value.
