Argentina Sets New Technical Requirements for Bicycle Tyres

Argentina has adopted new technical requirements for bicycle tyres, including quality and marking/labelling requirements. Specifically, pneumatic covers of bike tyres must comply with the requirements of standard IRAM 113.330, while pneumatic chambers of bike tyres must adhere to the provisions of standard IRAM 40.025. Pneumatic covers and chambers must be marked and labelled as provided in these standards, including by disclosing the applicable date of manufacture. In addition, the product or its primary packaging must include information on the name and/or brand of the producer and/or importer, country of origin, and safety seal in accordance with the certification system selected.

Domestic producers and importers of subject merchandise must demonstrate compliance with these requirements by obtaining a product certification from an authorised certification body. They must report their stocks of subject merchandise through 1 June 2018 and may sell uncertified merchandise through 1 February 2019. The old certification requirements for bike tyres will cease to apply on 1 June 2018.
