Argentina Updates AEO Programme to Facilitate Global Trade
Argentina has updated its authorised economic operator programme in line with World Customs Organisation parameters in an effort to modernise this scheme and facilitate the signing of mutual recognition agreements with the customs authorities of other countries. Entities eligible to participate in the updated programme include importers, exporters, customs brokers, transport agents and companies, bonded warehouse and cargo terminal operators, postal and courier service providers, and other entities involved in international trade as well as members of the international logistics chain. Applicants must have been registered in Argentina’s unique taxpayers registry (PUC) for at least three years.
Entities may be classified under one of three different categories: AEO – compliance, AEO – simplification or AEO – security. Benefits for participating AEO entities that reach the highest level (AEO – security) include security training, dialogue within the AEO space, being able to publicise the entity’s AEO status, ability to take advantage of an exclusive attention channel, priority treatment during unforeseen events, priority treatment at the border, operational simplification, benefits derived from mutual recognition agreements signed with other countries, ability to take advantage of a global guarantee, customs processing through the green (low-risk) selectivity channel, and participation in specific consolidation, deconsolidation, IT and documentary schemes.
