Brazil Lowers Duties on Additional Products

Brazilian authorities have established the following tariff-rate quotas for a period of 12 months to correct a lack of supply in the Brazilian market. In-quota imports will benefit from a reduced two percent duty while out-of-quota merchandise will face regular rates of duty.

  • up to 4,500 tonnes of monochloroacetic acid classified under NCM 2915.40.10
  • up to 23,000 tonnes of diphenylmethane diisocyanate classified under NCM 2929.10.10
  • up to 1,250 tonnes of certain mixtures based on odoriferous substances, in the form of microcapsules, of a kind used as raw materials in the personal care and cleaning industry, classified under NCM 3302.90.90
  • up to 3,794 tonnes of chlorinated poly(vinyl chloride) in powder form classified under NCM 3904.90.00
  • up to 105,000 tonnes of polymeric MDI presented in liquid form classified under NCM 3909.31.00
  • up to 200 tonnes of self-adhesive polyethylene terephthalate laminates, in rolls of a width of at least 920 mm but no greater than 1,820 mm, with a surface treatment to provide heat, light and UVA/UVB filtering control, designed for glass coating, of a kind used in motor vehicles or civil construction, classified under NCM 3939.90.90
  • up to 600 tonnes of polypropylene film of a width exceeding 50 cm but not exceeding 100 cm, of a thickness not exceeding 15 micrometres (microns), with one or both rough sides having a relative roughness of a least six percent, of dielectric strength of at least 500 volts/micrometre (Standard ASTM D 3755-97), in rolls, classified under NCM 3920.20.19
  • up to 26,282 tonnes of monoisopropylamine and its salts classified under NCM 2921.19.23 (effective from 14 August 2018)
  • up to 9,000 tonnes of acrylic or modacrylic staple fibres, not carded, combed or otherwise processed for spinning, classified under NCM 5503.30.00 (effective from 14 August 2018)
