Brazil Lowers Duties on Various Products

Brazil has lowered from 14 percent to two percent the import duty on industrial fatty lauryl alcohol classified under NCM 3823.70.20. Additionally, tariff-rate quotas have been established on imports of the following products to correct a lack of supply in the Brazilian market. As a result, subject merchandise will benefit from a reduced two percent duty for a period of 12 months.

  • up to 7,200 tonnes of unalloyed nickel cathodes classified under NCM 7502.10.10
  • up to of 8,000 tonnes of anatase titanium oxide classified under NCM 2823.00.10
  • up to of 224,785 tonnes of palm kernel oil classified under NCM 1513.29.10
  • up to 500 voltage switches meeting certain characteristics classified under NCM 8535.90.00

Meanwhile, Brazilian authorities are seeking input from interested parties by 30 May on a proposal to lower from 10, 12 or 14 percent to two percent the import duty on a range of chemicals of HS chapters 28 and 29.
