Brazil Lowers Duties on Various Products

Brazil has established tariff-rate quotas on imports of the following products to correct a lack of supply in the Brazilian market. As a result, subject merchandise will benefit from a reduced two percent duty for a period of 12 months from the date indicated.

  • up to 26,282 tonnes of monoisopropylamine and its salts classified under NCM 2921.19.23 classified under NCM 7502.10.10 (from 14 August 2019)
  • up to 4,500 tonnes of monochloroacetic acid classified under NCM 2915.40.10 (from 4 July 2019)
  • up to of 1,500 tonnes of insecticides based on aluminium phosphide classified under NCM 3808.91.95 (from 4 July 2019)
  • up to 127,575 tonnes of partially oriented polyester yarn classified under NCM 5402.46.00 (from 4 July 2019)
  • up to 8,000 tonnes of high tenacity polyester monofilament yarn, except yarn of more than 933 decitex but less than 2,450 decitex, classified under NCM 5402.20.00 (from 24 July 2019)
  • up to 6,240 tonnes of acrylic/modacrylic filament tow classified under NCM 5501.30.00 (from 23 August 2019)
  • up to 9,000 tonnes of acrylic or modacrylic staple fibres, not carded, combed or otherwise processed for spinning, classified under NCM 5503.30.00 (from 14 August 2019)
  • up to 7,200 tonnes of unalloyed nickel cathodes classified under NCM 7502.10.10 (from 4 July 2019)

Brazil has also provided duty-free treatment for a period of 12 months to the following vaccines.

  • up to 30 million doses of Hepatitis B vaccines classified under NCM 3002.20.23 (from 16 October 2019)
  • up to 10 million doses of vaccines against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (acellular) classified under NCM 3002.20.27 (from 1 December 2019)
  • up to 18 million doses of Human Papillomavirus 6, 11, 16, 18 (recombinant) vaccines classified under NCM 3002.20.29 (from 1 December 2019)
  • up to 10 million doses of Hepatitis A vaccines classified under NCM 3002.20.29 (from 24 October 2019)
  • up to four million doses of rabies (inactivated) vaccines classified under NCM 3002.20.29 (from 16 October 2019)

Finally, the current TRQ on up to 4.5 million doses of Hepatitis A vaccines classified under NCM 3002.20.29 has been increased by four million doses, effective immediately.
