Brazilian State of São Paulo to Open Commercial Office in Shanghai

João Doria, governor of the Brazilian state of São Paulo, indicated following a meeting earlier this month with mainland Chinese Ambassador Yang Wanming that São Paulo will formally open a commercial office in Shanghai in August. The office, São Paulo’s first outside Brazil and second overall, will be tasked with facilitating the promotion of trade, investment and bi-lateral exchanges in such areas as agri-business, infrastructure and transportation.

A state delegation will travel to mainland China – including stops in Beijing and Shanghai – during 3-10 August to launch the new commercial office and sign a number of co-operation agreements in the areas of agri-business, technology, infrastructure, logistics and transportation, health, economic development, energy and tourism. State authorities hope to open additional commercial offices in other mainland Chinese cities at some point in the future.
