CPSC Recalls Various Products Made in Mainland China

The CPSC has announced the following recalls of products made in mainland China.

Computer Battery Packs
Fujitsu America Inc. has recalled about 5,800 computer battery packs in the United States as well as 606 computer battery packs in Canada because the lithium-ion battery can overheat, posing burn and fire hazards to consumers. This recall involves Panasonic lithium-ion battery packs for these Fujitsu notebook computers and workstations: CELSIUS H720 and LIFEBOOK E752, E733, E743, E753, P702, P772, S710, S752, S762, T732, T734 and T902. Recalled battery pack product numbers are CP556150-03, CP579060-01 and CP629458-03. The product and serial numbers are printed on a white sticker on the battery. These products were sold on-line at www.shopfujitsu.com from July 2012 through December 2017.

Hair Dryers
ISO Beauty is recalling approximately 73,000 hair dryers in the United States as well as about 1,000 hair dryers in Canada because the cord can become brittle near the base of the dryer, posing burn hazards. This recall involves Ionic Pro 2000 and 2000W hand-held hair dryers sold under the ISO Beauty and Proliss brand names. The bottom rear of the dryer has “ISO” or “Proliss” printed as well as model number HD-1820. The dryers were sold in black, white, white pearl, peacock, white zebra, pink leopard, blue and giraffe colours at Groupon.com, Target.com, ISObeauty.com, Proliss.com and Amazon.com from March 2013 through January 2018.

Electric Blankets
Rural King has issued a recall for about 9,000 electric heated blankets and throws because the electric cord in these products can overheat and catch on fire, posing fire and burn hazards. The 100 percent polyester blankets and throws were sold in cream and brown colours and in two sizes: 50 by 60 inches (smaller than a twin size) and 84 by 90 inches (queen size). These products have one or two multi-setting controllers attached to the electric cord. Model numbers starting with BLV-OB and ending in 200, 201A, 201B, 201C, 202, 202BN, 202CM, 203, 204A1, 204A2, 204A3, 204A2BR , 204A2CM, 205B1, 205B2, 205B3 or 206C1 can be found on a corner tag, while Matton Rural King Supply, Inc. is printed on the back of the tag. These products were sold at Rural King stores nationwide as well as on-line at www.ruralking.com from October through December 2017.

Recliner Chairs
NEMO Equipment has announced a recall of about 15,500 reclining chairs because the straps on the chair seat can fail, posing a fall hazard. This recall involves Stargaze Recliner, Stargaze Recliner Low and Stargaze Recliner Luxury lifestyle camping chairs. These portable swinging and reclining outdoor chairs have an aluminium frame and a black and grey monofilament mesh seat, and weigh between five and seven pounds. They were sold in four colours – birch leaf green, graphite, verdigris (teal) and Sedona (red) – and came in a black padded carrying case. The model name is printed on the pocket on the inside right side of the seat while the NEMO name and logo is attached to the back of the seat as a stitched logo. The chairs were sold exclusively at REI from October through December 2017.

Electric Kettles
Whirlpool Corp. has recalled about 40,200 electric kettles in the United States, approximately 47,300 electric kettles in Canada and about 1,600 electric kettles in Mexico because the handle can loosen and separate from the kettle, causing hot contents to spill and posing a burn hazard. This recall involves KitchenAid 1.7 litre electric kettles sold in stainless steel, red, black, white, liquid graphite and cocoa silver. The model and serial numbers are located on the bottom of the kettles and KitchenAid is written on the front of the kettles, which were sold at Bed Bath & Beyond, Dillard's, Fry’s Electronics, Kitchen Kaboodle, Kohl’s, Navy Exchange, Target, Williams Sonoma and other home improvement, home appliance and retail stores, as well as on-line at Amazon.com and other on-line retailers, from September 2013 through February 2018.

Cost Plus World Market is recalling about 8,400 candles because their high flame can ignite the surface of the wax, posing a fire hazard. This recall involves bleeding drip taper candles sold in a pack of two. The unscented wax candles are black and bleed red wax as they melt. They measure about ten inches long and have World Market, Bleeding Drip Taper Candles as well as SKU/UPC 544668/000000544668 on the product packaging. They were sold at Cost Plus World Market and World Market stores nationwide and on-line at www.worldmarket.com from August through October 2017.

Fire Pits
The CPSC has recalled about 58,000 outdoor gas fire pits because the bowl base of the pit lacks a heat shield to protect consumers from burns while turning off the propane tank after use. This recall involves Hampton Bay 50,000 BTU, 30-inch Cross Ridge Outdoor gas fire pit table patio heaters with model number G-FTB51057B and UPC 6944937601579. The fire pit has an antique bronze finish with a natural slate table top and a black base that holds a propane tank. The model and UPC numbers are printed on the product’s packaging. These products were sold exclusively at Home Depot stores nationwide and on-line from August 2016 through November 2017.
