Children’s Go-Karts
Hauck Fun For Kids Inc. has recalled about 26,300 children’s go-karts in the United States and approximately 2,100 children’s go-karts in Canada because the steering wheel on these go-karts can detach, break or crack while in use, posing a laceration and/or collision hazard to young children. This recall involves the Nerf Battle Racers, a four-wheel pedal-powered go-kart for children ages four to ten. The go-karts have black and orange wheels and the “Nerf” logo can be found on each side and etched into the black seat. They measure approximately 50 inches long by 27 inches high by 24 inches wide. Model number T91869 and the date of manufacture is printed on a white sticker located on the underside of the seat. Only go-karts with a date of manufacture between 01/2016 and 03/2017 are being recalled. These products were sold at Orsheln Farm, Shopko, Target, Toys R Us and Wal Mart stores nationwide, as well as on-line at Amazon.com and Fingerhut.com, from January 2016 through March 2017.

The scarves measure about 65 inches long by 21 inches wide and have a small side seam label with “100% silk” printed on it. They were sold in the following 13 colours: Azure Blue, Bright Fuchsia, Brown Corn Silk Cream, Dark Blue, Floral White, Lime Green, Midnight Black, Orchid Purple, Peony Pink, Rose Red, Sky Blue and Tangerine Orange. On Amazon.com, the scarves were sold as “Wrapables Lightweight 100% Silk Butterfly Print Long Scarf.”

ALDI Inc. has issued a recall for about 35,000 deep fryers because the heating element can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards. This recall involves Ambiano mini deep fryers sold in two colours: brushed stainless steel and red. The recalled deep fryers have a black lid and were sold with a metal food basket. They measure about 9.45 inches wide by 10.43 inches high by 8.23 inches deep and have Ambiano printed on the front. Munchkin Inc. has announced a recall of about 72,000 bath toys because they can break apart and expose small parts, posing a choking hazard to young children. This recall involves Waterpede bath toys, which are one piece multi-coloured Centipede-shaped toys that allow water to be scooped from the top and flow through the bottom chambers. Intended for children six months and up, these plastic bath toys were sold at Babies R Us, Target and other stores nationwide, as well as on-line at munchkin.com, from September 2015 through January 2018.

Harbor Freight Tools is recalling some 1,020,000 chainsaws because the power switch can malfunction and allow the chainsaw to continue operating after the operator moves the switch to the “off” position, posing a serious injury hazard to the operator. This recall involves two models of 14 inch chainsaws sold under three different brand names. The Portland and One Stop Gardens brand chainsaws have a green and black colour scheme and “Portland” printed on the blades. The Chicago Electric brand chainsaw has a red and black colour scheme and “Chicago Electric” printed on the chainsaw handle. All recalled chainsaws were sold with a black blade guard and have the model number printed on a label on the bottom. Michaels Stores Procurement Co. Inc, a subsidiary of The Michaels Companies Inc., has issued a recall for about 10,000 candle holders in the United States as well as about 830 candle holders in Canada because they can ignite and pose fire and burn hazards.
