CPSC Recalls Various Products Made in Mainland China

The CPSC has announced a recall of the following products made in mainland China.

Power Banks. Daniel M. Friedman & Associates, a division of Steven Madden Ltd., has recalled approximately 170,500 rechargeable power banks in the United States as well as about 6,900 rechargeable power banks in Canada because they can overheat and pose a fire hazard. This recall involves universal rechargeable power banks for use with smart phones and tablets. The recalled chargers came in a variety of colours and shapes, including a unicorn head, a cat with sunglasses, and a rainbow between two clouds. They were sold at Burlington, Kohl’s, Ross and other stores nationwide from November 2016 through January 2019.

Swivel Fittings. Interline Brands Inc. has issued a recall for some 140,000 swivel fittings because they can leak and pose a fire hazard. This recall involves multiple sizes of ProPlus Brass Flare swivel fittings used as connectors for copper tubing. The brass, gold-coloured fittings connect two male flare nuts opposite to each other. The swivels were used primarily for LP gas (propane) applications by professional installers. Recalled model numbers include 39-4, 39-6, 39-8, 39-8-6, 39-10 and 39-10-8. These products were sold by hardware retailers from August 2017 through November 2018 and were also sold to professional installers by Leran, Barnett, Hardware Express, SupplyWorks, Wilmar and Maintenance USA stores from August 2017 through July 2018.

Baby Rattle Socks. Midwest-CBK LLC has announced a recall of about 22,600 baby rattle socks in the United States as well as about 2,600 baby rattle socks in Canada because small ornaments can detach from the socks, posing a choking hazard to young children. This recall involves various styles of Midwest Gift brand Baby Rattle Socks - Perfect Pair. The socks are 100 percent cotton and have an animal or character sewn onto the toe, including a snowman, reindeer, whale, flamingo, tiger or shark. They were sold in children’s sizes 0 to 12 months at boutique gift stores nationwide from October 2017 through December 2018.
