CPSC Recalls Various Products Made in Mainland China

The CPSC has announced the following recalls of products made in mainland China.

Remote-Controlled Vehicles
Horizon Hobby LLC has recalled about 18,600 remote-controlled model vehicles in the United States as well as 540 remote-controlled model vehicles in Canada because the vehicle’s electronic speed control (ESC) can fail and short circuit, posing a fire hazard. The recall involves the Dynamite 40-Amp FWD REV Brushed ESC – DYNS2201 model vehicle. It affects the ESC that comes in vehicle models ECX 1/10 LiPo Circuit, Ruckus and Torment with model numbers ECX03130T1, ECX03130T2, ECX03131T1, ECX03131T2, ECX03133T1, ECX03133T2 or ECX03154. The model numbers can be found on the product box or in the owner’s manual for each vehicle. The model vehicles measure about 18 inches in length and 12 inches in width and are hobby grade remote control models for ages 14 and up. They were sold at Horizon Hobby stores nationwide and on-line at www.horizonhobby.com from October through December 2016.

Infant Booties
Zutano Global Inc. is recalling approximately 38,000 infant booties because the non-slip rubber grips on the bottom of the booties can detach, posing a choking hazard. This recall involves 70 percent cotton / 30 percent polyester infant fleece gripper Cozie booties. The booties have rubber grippers in the shape of a “Z” on the bottom and were sold in sizes 12-18 months in multi-colours and 13 solid colours: chocolate, grey, heather grey, hot pink, pool (aqua), apple (light green), cream, fuchsia, lime, mandarin, navy, pagoda (turquoise blue) and periwinkle. Only booties with the following tracking labels sewn under the care label are included in this recall: FALL161-03/16, FALL166-03/16, FALL166-06/16, FALL167-06/16, FALL168-07/16, FALL169-07/16, FALL1610-08/16, FALL1611-09/16 and FALL1612-07/16. These products were sold at G Willikers (Portsmouth, New Hampshire), Kid Dynamo (Berkeley, California), Magic Beans (Hyde Park, Massachusetts), Magpie Kids (Somerville, Massachusetts), Pacifier (Minneapolis, Minnesota), The Animal Kingdom (State College, Pennsylvania), The Pump Station (Santa Monica, California), Tip Toes (Holland, Michigan) and other stores nationwide as well as on-line at www.amazon.com and www.zutano.com from May 2016 through March 2017.

Women’s Sweaters
FatFace Corp. has recalled about 400 women’s sweaters because they fail to meet federal flammability standards for clothing textiles. This recall involves two styles of FatFace women’s sweaters: overhead Cowes (style number 918043) and zip-up (style number 918041). The style numbers are printed on a care label on the inside seam of the sweaters. The Overhead Cowes sweater is 97 percent cotton and 3 percent polyester and was sold in ivory. It has a 3.5 inch cowl or funnel neckline that can be tightened or loosened by the drawstring located at the centre front of the neckline, as well as a kangaroo-style pocket located at the bottom front. The zip-up sweater is 97 percent cotton and 3 percent polyester and was sold in ivory, ocean surf (green) and lilac ice (lavender) colours. It has a hood that can be tightened and loosened with a drawstring, as well as a silver metal zipper extending from the neckline to the bottom with two pockets on each side of the zipper. These sweaters were sold exclusively at FatFace stores in Maine, Massachusetts and Rhode Island, as well as at www.fatface.com, from September 2016 through January 2017.

HoMedics has announced a recall of some 400,000 hand-held massagers because the cord can break near the base of the massager and expose the wires, posing electric shock and burn hazards. This recall involves model HHP-375H, HHP-250 and PA-MH-THP massagers with a 120 VAC, 60 HZ power cord. The HHP-375H model Handheld Dual Node Percussion Massager with Heat is white with a grey handle or black with a grey handle. This massager has three sets of interchangeable nodes. The HHP-250 model Handheld Hot and Cold Massager is white with a grey stripe or grey with a blue stripe. This massager has three, five or eight interchangeable nodes. The PA-MH-THP model Handheld Compact Percussion Massager with Heat is white on the bottom of the base with grey on top. This massager has two sets of interchangeable nodes. “HoMedics” is printed on all of the massagers, which were sold at Bed Bath & Beyond, Macy’s, Rite-Aid, Walmart and other stores nationwide, as well as through the Home Shopping Network, from August 2013 through February 2017.

Stroller and Car Seat Combos
Combi USA has announced a recall of about 1,000 stroller and car seat combos because the car seat can disengage from the stroller’s frame, posing a fall hazard to infants. This recall involves Combi Shuttle model strollers and car seats, which when used together are called a travel system. The strollers and car seats were sold in titanium (silver) and red chili (red) colours and have model number 6100027 or 6100100 printed on a label on the base of the car seat and stroller’s leg. Combi is printed on the front of the  stroller and the car seat and Shuttle is printed above the model number. These products were sold at Amazon.com, Babies R Us.com, Target.com and by other on-line retailers from June 2015 through September 2016.
