CPSC Recalls Various Products Made in Mainland China

The CPSC has announced the following recalls of products made in mainland China.

Office Chairs
Staples the Office Superstore LLC has recalled some 124,000 office chairs because the legs of the base of the chair can break, posing a fall hazard. This recall involves Staples and Quill Hazen Mesh Task chairs. The chair has a five-wheel base, a black fabric seat cushion and a black mesh seat back. It has SKU number 1058246 and item number 26680 printed on a white label on the underside of the seat cushion. These chairs were sold at Staples stores nationwide and on-line at staples.com, stapleadvantage.com and quill.com from October 2014 through April 2017.

American Promotional Events is recalling approximately 36,100 fireworks units because they can explode unexpectedly after being lit, posing burn and injury hazards to consumers. This recall involves TNT Red, White, & Blue Smoke fireworks, which are pyrotechnic devices that make smoke when lit. They were sold in a bag containing three canisters: one red, one blue and one white. Each coloured smoke firework is a cardboard cylinder tube that measures about an inch in diameter and five inches long. The TNT logo, “Red, White & Blue Smoke” and UPC number 027736036561 appear on the packaging. These products were sold at Albertsons, Kroger, Meijer, Target, Wal-Mart and other retailers in Illinois, Ohio, Vermont and Wisconsin from May through June 2017.

Light Fixtures
Design Solutions International and Home Depot have issued a recall for about 64,000 light fixtures because the light shades can detach and fall, posing laceration and burn hazards. This recall involves Home Decorators Collection 3-Light and 4-Light Comotti vanity fixtures. These light fixture styles have three or four chrome-coloured glass shades with clear acrylic ball strands that surround a halogen light. The wall plate is made of reflective stainless steel. These products were sold exclusively at Home Depot stores nationwide and on-line at www.homedepot.com from December 2014 through March 2017.
