CPSC Recalls Various Products Made in Mainland China

The CPSC has announced the following recalls of products made in mainland China.

Outlet Converters
Ningbo Litesun Electric C0. Ltd. has recalled about 42,000 outlet converters because the front outlet prongs are not configured correctly, resulting in reverse polarity when the plugs are inserted and posing shock and fire hazards. This recall involves commercial electric 15-amp triplex outlet converters, also known as taps, with model number LA-05 and UPC number 818897010121. The white plastic converters convert a single electrical outlet into three outlets with an outlet plug on the left, front and right side of the tap. The outlet taps measure 1.7 inches tall by 1.3 inches wide by 1.69 inches deep. On the front facing outlet, neutral and line (power socket) sizes are reversed. The model number is printed on the mould on the side where the prongs are located while the UPC number is printed on a sticker on the top of the converter along with the UL listing. These products were sold exclusively at Home Depot stores nationwide and on-line at www.HomeDepot.com from February through July 2017.

Silverware
Macy’s Merchandising Group Inc. is recalling approximately 18,900 cake knife and server sets because the handles on the knife and server can break during use, posing a laceration hazard. This recall involves Macy’s Martha Stewart Collection Whiteware cake knife and server sets. The set includes a knife and a cake server, each measuring about 11 inches in length. Both the knife and cake server have a white textured ceramic handle. “Martha Stewart Collection” is embossed on the metal where the blades meet the handles, while UPC number 608356963330 and product ID PRCDCKSRVR are printed on the product packaging. These products were sold at Macy’s stores nationwide and on-line, as well as at Military Exchanges, between January 2014 and July 2017.

Ottomans
Target Corp. has issued a recall for about 7,500 pouf ottomans because the zippers on these products can be opened by children, who can then suffocate or choke on the ottoman’s polystyrene beads. This recall includes black leather pouf ottomans filled with polystyrene beads. They measure about 22 3/16 inches long by 22 3/16 inches wide by 17 11/16 inches high. “Room Essentials” and model number 249-19-1286 are printed on a white tag sewn into the seam of the product. These ottomans were sold at Target stores nationwide and on-line from June through August 2017.

Musical Toys
Kids Preferred LLC has announced a recall of about 587,000 musical toys in the United States and approximately 1,000 musical toys in Canada because the metal post and/or handle of the wind-up mechanism can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children. This recall involves Carter’s, Child of Mine, Guess How Much I Love You and Just One You brands of wind-up musical plush toys. The toys have a metal wind-up mechanism that can be turned to play music. They were sold in a variety of animal characters and colours. The model number and batch code are printed on the smallest white sewn-in label behind the care label. These toys were sold at Carter’s, Target, Walmart and other stores nationwide and on-line from January 2016 through August 2017.
