CPSC Recalls Various Products Made in Mainland China

The CPSC has announced the following recalls of products made in mainland China.

Rubber Toys
BSN SPORTS LLC has recalled about 31,200 rubber toys because the orange and yellow surface paint on these toys contains excessive lead levels. This recall involves all rubber critter toys sold in various colours and animal shapes, including octopus, alligators, chickens, frogs, pigs, penguins and cows. Primarily used to play physical education tossing games, the toys were sold individually and in sets ranging from two to 24 rubber critters through BSN SPORTS and US Games catalogues as well as on-line at www.amazon.com, www.athleticconnection.com, www.bsnsports.com, www.esportsonline.com and www.usgames.com from February 2017 through June 2018.

Lights for Reptile Cages
PetSmart Inc. is recalling approximately 23,000 strip lights for reptile cages in the United States as well as about 440 strip lights for reptile cages in Canada because the fluorescent bulb can overheat and cause the hood on the light fixture to ignite. This recall involves 20-inch and 30-inch All Living Things reptile strip light fixtures that simulate natural daylight and are attached to the top of the reptile’s terrarium. The 20-inch fixture has UPC number 73725773305 and the 30-inch fixture has UPC number 73725773306 printed on the packaging. These products were sold at PetSmart stores nationwide from March 2017 through July 2018.

Exercise Equipment
Core Health & Fitness has issued a recall for about 3,500 exercise units because the steps can accelerate rapidly without input from the user, posing a fall hazard. This recall involves StairMaster branded 8G Gauntlet Stepmill machines with model numbers 9-5250 and 9-5270. The recalled machines consist of a revolving staircase and a backlit LCD console and were sold in red, black and red/yellow. The model number is printed on the base of the unit and Stairmaster is printed on both sides of the unit and on the shrouds. Date codes involved in this recall range from 1734 to 1823 in the case of SKU 9-5250 as well as from 1813 to 1816 in the case of SKU 9-5270. These products were sold by Core Health & Fitness distributors nationwide from October 2017 through June 2018.
