CPSC Recalls Various Products Made in Mainland China
The CPSC has announced the following recalls of products made in mainland China.
Electric Skateboards. Yvolve Sports Ltd. has recalled about 10,000 electric skateboards because the tyre on these skateboards can deflate, posing a fall hazard to the user. This recall involves the Neon Nitro 8, a self-balancing, single-wheeled, battery-powered, electric skateboard sold under the Neon brand. The product is powered by the user placing one foot on the rear and front decks, gaining balance and then shifting their weight backwards or forwards to control the speed. “Neon” is printed on these skateboards, which were sold at Walmart and Toys “R” Us as well as on-line at Amazon.com from October 2017 through September 2018.
Bike Helmets. Shimano North America Holding Inc. is recalling approximately 4,200 bicycle helmets because they fail to comply with the federal safety standard for these products, posing a risk of head injury. This recall involves Shimano’s Lazer-branded bike helmets, models Blade, Elle, Jade and Magma. These helmets were sold in the following matte or glossy colours and colour combinations: black, black and pink, blue, dark blue, grey and yellow, khaki and orange, titanium, red, yellow and white. “Lazer” is printed on the side of the helmet and “Model LZB-08” is printed on a sticker inside the helmet. Only helmets in the following sizes are included in the recall: Blade (XS and S), Elle (S), Jade (S) and Magma (S). These helmets were sold by authorised Shimano bike dealers nationwide from January 2015 through April 2018.
Mountain Bikes. Pacific Cycle Inc. has recalled about 17,600 mountain bikes because the downtube on these bikes can crack, posing a fall hazard. This recall involves Schwinn Abbott adult men’s full suspension mountain bikes. The bikes are black with green, yellow and blue accent colours on the downtubes. They were sold with 29-inch tyres and have “Schwinn” printed in green and yellow on the downtube as well as “Abbott” printed in blue on the top tube near the bike stem and handlebars. These bikes were sold exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide and on-line at Walmart.com from February through August 2018.
Fridges. Haier America has issued a recall for some 137,000 top-mount refrigerators because an electrical component in these fridges can short circuit, posing a fire hazard. This recall involves Haier models HA10TG31SB, HA10TG31SS and HA10TG31SW with a 10.1 cubic foot capacity. They measure about five feet high and two feet wide and have the Haier logo affixed on the fridge door. These fridges were sold at Lowes stores nationwide as well as by independent retailers from September 2014 through September 2018.
Children’s Toy Instrument Sets. The CPSC has issued a recall for about 440 children’s toy instrument sets because paint on the maracas, xylophone and carrying case contains excessive lead levels. This recall involves INNOCHEER children’s musical instrument sets. The 18-piece sets have one xylophone, two mallets, two maracas, one jingle stick, one sleigh bell, four shaker eggs, two finger castanets, one rainbow bell stick, one mini tambourine and one triangle with striker. The set came inside a clear plastic bag that measures about 8.9 inches by 8.9 inches by 3.2 inches and has a green trim and a yellow zipper and handles. INNOCHEER is printed in green on the front of the bag. These toys were sold exclusively at Amazon.com from June through August 2018.
