CPSC Recalls Various Products Made in Mainland China
The CPSC has announced the following recalls of products made in mainland China.
Children’s Water Bottles
Mountain Warehouse has recalled about 1,000 children’s water bottles because the water bottle’s spout can detach, exposing a small ring and posing a choking hazard to children. This recall involves a plastic 350-millilitre children’s water bottle that comes with a screw-on solid colour top with a pop up straw and handle. A barcode is printed on the price sticker located at the bottom of it. These products were sold in multiple colours and prints, including tractors, hedgehogs, sharks, fish and horses, at Mountain Warehouse stores nationwide and on-line at www.mountainwarehouse.com/us from July 2017 through September 2018.
Lifetone Technology Inc. is recalling approximately 10,000 bedside fire alarms and clocks because they can fail to operate and fully alert consumers to a fire. This recall involves Lifetone HLAC151 bedside fire alarms/clocks with serial numbers ranging from AC160600001 through AC160604102 and AC170100001 through AC170106030. The alarm/clock is an assistive alerting device intended for in-home use by individuals with hearing loss. They detect the T3 emergency signal given by existing smoke alarms and the alarm then signals at a lower frequency, which may be better heard by individuals with mild to severe hearing loss. The alarm also gives spoken emergency signals “FIRE GET OUT” in both English and Spanish. Defective units continue to sound a low frequency emergency audio signal and spoken signal “FIRE GET OUT” in English and Spanish but the optional bed shaker, if attached, will not operate. The white, rectangle clock measures 8.5 inches wide by 4.2 inches high by 4.5 inches wide and has “Lifetone” printed on the front of the unit and a digital display with the date, time and type of emergency. There is a large black dome-shaped microphone on the top left of the alarm. These products were sold on-line at www.lifetonesafety.com and installed by fire departments and the American Red Cross nationwide from November 2016 through September 2018.
H.I.S. International Group LLC has recalled about 4,400 girls’ clothing sets because the metal pendant on the necklace contains excessive lead levels. This recall involves Self-Esteem brand girls’ clothing sets with a gold leaf pendant necklace. The recalled clothing sets consist of three items: a short-sleeve teal top with cut-out shoulders, a navy blue legging pant with a teal floral print, and a pendant necklace with an orange and teal centre. They have style number PO#71160/LOT9 and a date of production of 10/2017 printed on a white label on the inside of the garment. They were sold in girls’ sizes 4x-12x at Burlington and Shopko stores nationwide from February through October 2018.
