CPSC Recalls Various Products Made in Mainland China

The CPSC has announced a recall of the following products made in mainland China.

Jaw Chuck Systems
Penn State Industries has recalled about 1,000 jaw chuck systems because the jaws can loosen from the chuck and break off, posing a laceration hazard. This recall involves CSCBARR5 quick change jaw chuck systems used with woodworking lathes. The silver jaw chuck systems are made of steel and measure about 3.875 inches in diameter. “PSI Woodworking Products” and product number “CSCBARR5” are printed on the side of the chuck. These products were sold at Blackwater River Tools, Klingspor Woodworking, L&R Collectables, Long Island Woodworking Supply, Penn State Industries, Sumner Woodworking Store, The Woodwork Shop, Woodturningz, Woodworkers Emporium and other stores nationwide, as well as on-line at Amazon.com and other websites, from March 2017 through August 2018.

Thermostats
White-Rodgers is recalling some 135,000 thermostats in the United States as well as about 15,000 thermostats in Canada because contact between the thermostat wires and household line voltage can damage the thermostat, posing a fire hazard. This recall involves Emerson branded SensiWiFi thermostats with “Emerson” printed on the front and a date code from 1416 to 1536 on the back. The thermostats are white with an LCD screen and there are three buttons below the thermostat screen. Recalled thermostats have model number 1F86U-42WF or UP500W on a product label on the back of the thermostat. These products were sold at Johnstone, Home Depot and Golden State FC stores as well as by heating ventilation and air conditioning equipment distributors nationwide from April 2014 through December 2016.

Noodle Soup Cups
Lotus Foods Inc. has recalled some 239,000 rice ramen noodle soup cups because the paper soup cup’s labelling incorrectly instructs consumers to use the microwave for cooking, posing fire and burn hazards. The recalled product is a two-ounce ramen noodle soup packaged in a paper cup that is not microwave safe. The recalled soup cups contain organic brown rice noodles and were sold in three flavours: red miso rice ramen noodle soup, masala curry rice ramen noodle soup and tom yum rice noodle soup. These products were sold at Whole Foods Market stores and other independent natural and specialty stores nationwide, Safeway stores in Northern California and on-line at Amazon.com and Lotusfoods.com from August through November 2018.
