CPSC Recalls Various Products Made in Mainland China
The CPSC has announced a recall of the following products made in mainland China.
Scooters. Leitmotif Services (doing business as fluidfreeride) has recalled about 1,800 scooters in the United States as well as about 66 scooters in Canada because their brake caliper can fail, causing the rider to lose control and suffer serious bodily harm. This recall involves all Mercane WideWheel electric kick scooters. The foldable electric scooters are grey aluminium alloy and have four-inch-wide wheels. They either have a single 500 watt motor with an 8.8Ah battery or dual 500 watt motors with a 13.2Ah battery. These products have “WideWheel” and “Mercane” printed on their platform and were sold on-line at fluidfreeride.com, Amazon.com and ebay.com from October 2018 through September 2019.
Resistance Bands. Fit For Life LLC has announced a recall of about 95,000 resistance bands because the bands can separate from the handle and strike consumers, posing an injury hazard. This recall involves SPRI ultra heavy resistance tubes or bands used for exercising. They are black with nylon webbing and have SPRI printed on the handles in white. Some units have KN08/18, KN09/18 or KN10/18 printed on the handle and model number 02-71669 is printed on the bottom of the packaging. These resistance bands were sold exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide as well as on-line at Walmart.com from August 2018 through July 2019.
Bath Stools. Clawfoot Supply LLC (doing business as Signature Hardware) is recalling approximately 200 bath tools in the United States as well as four bath stools in Canada because they can break during use, posing fall and injury hazards. This recall involves Luyten white matte resin bath stools measuring about 16 inches wide by 11 inches deep by 17 inches high. Each stool features geometric cut-outs on the sides and was sold with SKU number 398753 printed on purchase receipts and email order confirmations. These products were sold exclusively at www.signaturehardware.com between October 2013 and July 2019.
Knives. Harbor Freight Tools has recalled some 1.1 million knives because their locking mechanism can fail to engage on extension of the blade, posing a laceration hazard. This recall involves Gordon brand folding stainless steel knives with black metal on the handle and five cut-outs on each side of the handle. The knife measures about three inches and has a silver-coloured metal belt clip attached to the back of the handle. “China” is printed on one side and “Stainless Steel” is printed on the other side of the knife blade. These knives were sold at Harbor Freight Tools stores nationwide, by telephone and on-line at www.harborfreight.com from July 2008 through July 2019.
