Changes to Energy Test Procedures for Certain Lamp Fixtures Under Consideration

The U.S. Department of Energy has launched a data collection process to consider whether to amend the current energy test procedures for metal halide lamp fixtures. To inform interested parties and facilitate this process, the agency has gathered data and identified several issues associated with the currently applicable test procedures on which it is interested in receiving comment. These issues mainly concern updates to industry standards as well as potential clarifications to the existing test procedures for subject merchandise. The DOE welcomes written comments from the public by 29 June on any subject within the scope of its request for information, including topics not directly outlined in the request. The agency also welcomes comments on any additional topics that may inform its decisions in a potential future energy test procedure rulemaking, such as methods to reduce regulatory burden while ensuring the accuracy of the procedures.
