Changes to Energy Test Procedures for Fluorescent Lamp Ballasts under Consideration
The U.S. Department of Energy is seeking input by 17 May on a proposal to revise its energy test procedures for fluorescent lamp ballasts. The agency is proposing to update references to industry standards, clarify the selection of reference lamps, provide a second stabilisation option for measuring ballast luminous efficiency, provide a test procedure for measuring the performance of ballasts at light outputs less than full light output, and revise the test procedure for measuring standby mode energy consumption. The DOE has tentatively determined that any change in measured values due to the proposed updates would be de minimis and the proposed test procedure would not be unduly burdensome.
